Has anyone been on any of the Carrara Marble tours? We are staying in Barga for 3 nights and I thought this might be a fun excursion. I'd love any comments or recommendations for tour companies that I could book in advance. Thanks!

The 'marble mountains' are a fantastic sight and the quarries are amazing - the sheer scale of the works defy belief. Tracking down references to tour guides some years ago were fruitless for me. You'll need a car and from Barga the travel and tour will consume most of a day.

In 2015, we arranged a day with Serena / Wish Versilia. The visit to the Carrara quarries was our main activity, and she incorporated shorter stops in the region, as well. It made for a very enjoyable day.
