Car trip by via Chiantigiana from Florence to Sienna

Hi. Among the various places we would like to visit in Italy is the Via Chiantigiana by car going south from Florence to Sienna. We have already located some villages, wineries and castles we would like to visit by the route (SR222).

Can someone provide me with an estimate of how long it will take us to complete the trip down to Sienna? We need to rent a car in Florence and would like to know for how long. Also if we have o stay in a B&B along the way

If you make no stops it takes about 1.5 hours (with my motorbike driving like Valentino Rossi) to nearly 2 hours (by car driving leisurely). However I used to live right at the beginning of the SR222 in Florence, so I had a few minutes ' advantage.

Add the time you intend to stop along the way.
