Car Service from Venice to Bellagio recommendations

Hello , italo just cancelled our train from Venice to Milan for August 13th, I was able to rebook on Trenitalia. but it definitely appears August along that line is going to be a sh*t show and we now contemplating a car service. does anyone have any recommendations for a one that is fairly affordable?

thanks

Did you ask for alternatives from Italo? A train cancellation does not cancel your ticket. If a railway cancels a train they must offer you an alternative.

For Bellagio I would book till Como. The train you booked with Trenitalia should run, but you will notice that it takes a lot longer, because it takes a detour.

The drive from Venice to Bellagio on Lake Como is about 200 miles and is probably 4-5 hours of driving. And you will presumably need to pay for an empty return I anticipate the trip cost will be quite high.

Choosing an NCC company that gives on-line quotes they estimated prices starting at 600e for Venice to Milan. I don't know if you'll be able to do much better than that.

Good luck,

@WengenX it appears they are suspending services between Venice and Milan from 8/4 through 8/25 Like a I said i was able to book a Trenitalia but anticipating delays and who knows what else we just thought of exploring the cost of car service.

There's a 4 hour bus between Venice and Milan which certainly less than ideal but if you're interested I'd book early if the train is really going to be out.

From the brief announcements I saw it only affects the high speed trains. Have you looked into non-high speed trains?
On a day in the middle of August I see:
08:51 - 13:35 Venezia S. Lucia > Milano Centrale 4h 44min
Regionale 88755 Venezia S. Lucia (08:51) - Verona Porta Nuova (11:13) Regionale 2628 Verona Porta Nuova (11:43) - Milano Centrale (13:35)
If the outages only affect high speed trains this slower regionale should run fine.

The announcement says the the complete closure is just the fast train section from Vicenza to Verona. If you could book from Verona on you could bus or car service to Verona (much closer) and go on from there.

I do see available trains on the Trenitalia site offering alternatives - regionale to Verona and then the fast train to Milan or fast service Venice to Bologna then Bologna to Milan to route around the issues. Even if they cancelled your ticket it doesn't look like service is completely out. I would encourage you to explore the revamped options before throwing up your hand entirely.
Negotiating the trains in Italy are part of the adventure, but it looks like you might be the extra experience.

For reference here is the announcement I found: https://www.fsnews.it/it/focus-on/servizi/2024/7/31/lavori-infrastruttura-agosto-modifiche-treni-trenitalia.html

Good luck,

interesante, I see that the time is increased in comparing that day and a day in November, but I still see plenty of ways to get there on trenitalia!

@hiredman, thanks yeah I did book a train on Trenitalia which is fine , it's just that the only time that that doesn't have either really long rides or has multiple trains swaps between Venice and Milan is the 6:18 am train. So snatched that up but man that is an early train. LOL Overall I'm ok with it, gives us more time in Lake Como, our final destination. but I got a lot of grunts and groans from the rest of our party about it being so early. LOL
