We fly into into Olbia airport and depart from Port of Olbia - Stazione Marittima at 10pm. We're trying to figure out:
I tried searching on Expedia and the only agency I found with a return location near the port was Europcar but they are charging $100+/day (well above what the market rate is for automatic cars).

I have direct Experience only at the OLB airport, where I have rented from multiple companies, but not at the port.
This is my suggestion. Go to the consolidators www.autoeurope.com or www.kemwel.com (same company after a merger years ago, but check both).
Test a rental price with pick up and return at the airport. See the options. Most likely the cheapest rates will be with Europcar or Hertz.
Then go to the websites of the companies you are considering (Hertz and Europcar in my example) and see if they have a location at the Olbia port. Then book the car you wish with one of the consolidators linked above. You can return your car anywhere in Italy at no extra charge. There are no drop off fees as long as you return it within the country of Italy. I change my mind all the time and return it wherever it's more convenient that day.
