We will need a rental car in Florence for one week but are seeing a tremendous variation in prices. Hertz is $526 but Expedia has prices of about $90 (for one week). What am I missing? Does anyone have any experience renting cars in Florence?

The Expedia price is likely too good to be true. We can't compare what is included--insurance, etc.? A week for 500 is really not bad.
I am assuming you are taking it out of Florence into the countryside though...
Expedia isn't a rental car company. They are just a reseller. Who is the actual company with the cheap prices? What car is this for? Are you comparing apples to apples? For starters, I'd look at AutoEurope's site to look at the rental companies and compare the prices for for similar types of car, and inclusions/exclusions, Then go from there.
