I will rent a car in Tuscany for one week mid October. Is there a small town in which I can do this? I do not want to drive out of Rome, as I will be going to Florence after Tuscano.

The rental companies should have a list of where their offices are. You can use that list to determine where to pick up the car. Donna

Many folks choose to take the train to either Orvieto or Chiusi to pick up the car.

Orvieto is an easy train ride from Rome, worth looking around, and an easy place to pick up your car. You can spend a few hours or a couple of days in Orvieto.
