We want to rent a car in Venice for one afternoon and return it in Bolzano. As it will be a Saturday in June, it appears from on-line research that the car rentals close at 12 or 12:30 pm. Has anyone had experience returning the car and using the drop-box. I am a little concerned about the car not being officially checked in until Monday morning. By that time we will no longer be in Bolzano.

I have never done that. The best suggestion I have is to get the FULL LDW coverage, so if anything happens to the car its not your problem, and you do not need to worry about it being a nasty surprise when you get home.
