car rental to tour Tuscan hill towns

Has anyone rented a car in Italy recently? Planning a trip for next spring and looking for recommendations in terms of which car rental company to use? There will be 4 of us so my preference is for a larger vehicle with automatic transmission. Suggestions of pick up and drop off locations also appreciated. On previous trips I was able to rent in Sienna and also Orvieto. I'm not sure with the car rental shortage if this is still possible.
Thank you very much,

We rented in Florence, dropped in Lucca this past spring

The cost is the problem this year, not so much availability

We always use www.AutoEurope.com
See what they have to offer for your dates/locations

Usually you’ll have more availability of automatic and larger car at a larger pick up location like Florence Borgo Ognissanti or the airport

We have used AutoEurope.com for twenty years, always satisfied.

We used Hertz and National last year. I’m using National again next month. No issues with either.

We are going in March and have rented a car with AutoEurope picking up in Venice and dropping off in Florence. They are basically a broker and placed the rental with Europcar. Considerably less expensive than Avis or Hertz. Full insurance zero deductible included. Second time with AutoEurope and very satisfied.

We have used www.kemwel.com. for years. They are out of Maine. They have a zero deductible option which gives you no worries. If you find a lower cost for the same, they have met the cheaper price. Book early for automatics. There are fewer available in Italy

We rented in Chiusi for our hill town trip and it worked well.
