Car Rental Question in Tuscany

Hi,
We are traveling for a month through Germany, Austria, and finishing in Italy in July/ August. We will be in Venice for 2 nights, staying in an Agriturismo south of Florence for 5 nights, then staying in Rome for 2 nights, and finishing in Praiano on the Amalfi Coast for 4 nights. We will be taking the train most of the month, but really want to rent a car for the hill towns in Tuscany. Would it be best to rent the car our last moments in Venice and drive to our Agriturismo, using the car for the 5 days, and then returning it in Rome? Or, should we pick the car up in Florence and take the train to Florence from Venice, returning the car to Florence, and training- it to Rome? Or, friends have mentioned dropping the car in Chiusi so we don't have to drive into Rome, and taking the train from Chiusi to Rome. HELP! Thank you so much in advance!

Last summer I rented a car in Venice, stayed in Orvieto, turned the car in at Orvieto near the train station and took the train to Rome. Absolutely no problems and very easy. Next month I'll be flying into Rome, taking a train to Chiusi and touring Tuscany before returning to Rome. There were differences in the car rental rates among companies and drop off points for cars rented out of Venice.
Orvieto and Chiusi are both good choices. You may want to see which combination of dates and destinations gives you the best rate and decide from there.

Thank you so much, I will try both Orvieto and Chiusi as end points and see which is cheapest. This is very helpful!
