We want to take the train to Assisi and drive from there. Does anyone know of a good car rental agency in or near Assisi? Thanks!

I went to expedia.co.uk for the car rental, and the closest place is the airport in Perugia, about6miles for Assisi.
I'm sure the other consolidartors will guide you to the same place, and you can pick from any of them.

There is a Hertz rental agency just steps from the Perugia
train station.

If you know when you will need a car, making arrangements in the U.S., before you leave, may save you some money. Try www.gemut.com. I found they had a much lower rate than AutoEurope, although the rental turned out to be Hertz through AutoEurope. Go figure! I think they act as a consolidator with considerable purchasing power and are therefore able to pass on great rates, and their service is super too. Mkae sure your contract is fully cancellable in case of a change of plans. Laurel

another vote for Perugia. Car rental place is right next to the train station. BTW I recommend bringing a portable GPS with you for the car.
