car rental in Tuscany; pick up in Siena drop off in Orvieto?

My husband and I are traveling to Italy in September and October. Part of our itinerary includes about a week in Tuscany. We have planned 2 nights in Lucca, 3 nights in Siena, three nights in an agriturismo in Buonconvento, and possibly one night in Orvieto so we can experience it before heading south to the Amalfi coast. We definitely plan to rent a car for 4 or 5 days, probably on our last day in Siena, so we can explore the countryside. Would it be better to pick up and return the car in Siena, or is it possible to pick up in Siena and drop off in Orvieto? We plan to take the train from either drop off spot to Naples, and we want the most direct train route possible. Thank you for your suggestions!

Personally I think 3 nights in Siena is excessive. One full day to see Siena is more than enough, therefore 2 nights is more than sufficient. I would add that night to Buonconvento.
Yes you can rent in Siena in your way out and return the car in Orvieto.
However, you might also consider to keep your car and drive to the Amalfi coast. Some people dread having a car in the Amalfi coast, but I generally like to have one there rather than transferring to the Circumvesuviana commuter train, then to the Sita bus. I just find that a hassle more than having a car. However parking cost at the Amalfi coast are high (about 25 euro a day in most lots).

I know Hertz has an office in Orvieto, right next to the train station (at the base of the hill). If they also have an office in Siena, it would be very easy to do a one-way rental.
Enjoy!
