car rental in rome- green motion

It's a British enterprise that operates through franchise agreements. They are relatively new in the Italian market where they are trying to increase their operations through the enrollment of new franchisees. They rent environmentally friendly vehicles (Nissan Leaf, Toyota Prius Hybrid, etc.).

I have no personal experience. The recent online reviews in Italy seem to be positive overall. The main complaints are that they are short staffed, therefore waits seem to be long at pick up and return. The other major complaint is that they place a very high hold on the credit card as a security deposit (€1,200 vs. the average €300-500 with other companies). They also sometime apply a cleaning fee of €15 upon return. I guess they expect you to wash the car when you return it. Other than that most Italians describe the staff as competent and courteous.

The Green Motion facilities may not be at the airport, and there have been complaints about this at Pisa. If you search Google for Green Motion Reviews you will not be reassured: http://green-motion.pissedconsumer.com/

I'd get out of that one if possible and use a consolidator. I (and many in this site) use:

They are part of the same corporate group and work primarily with the big 3 in Italy (Europcar, Hertz, Avis-Budget). I generally select the Europcar choice because they often have the cheapest car when you select the full zero deductible option.
On average, for an economy car, with full zero deductible insurance purchased through the above consolidators, I pay about $200/week in Italy. I've used both the above for years with no significant issues.

The rental with the above is a prepaid rental that is fully refundable if cancelled within 48 hours. If there are flight delays or delays in your rental, call them, because the facility may not hold the car for you otherwise. They have their affiliate in Italy:
