Having a difficult time finding car rentals in Orvieto. Any ideas? Thanks
I’m taking the train to Chiusi to pick up a rental when I visit Orvieto.
Hertz is the only agency in Orvieto
AutoEurope does not offer that agency due to bad service
You’ll have to rent directly from the agency
Make sure you are requesting rental that is within their open hours
Closed on Sunday, closes mid day m-f and closes around noon on Saturday
From what I recall from looking once, Hertz is about the only option in Orvieto. As the other poster noted Chiusi offers a bit more options, having a Budget/Avis and a few local places.
3rd vote for Chiusi for a car rental.
Easy 2.5 hour train ride to there from Rome.
Chiusi to Orvieto is about 45 minutes. Oddly you will be traveling backwards.
Be aware Parking in Chiusi is restrictive so if you visit there follow signage to a car park. Same with Orvieto.
If I’m not mistaken from another post you are coming from Rome.
So why don’t you rent the car in Rome, where options are plentiful? Orvieto is only about 75 miles from Rome and maybe 95 from the airport, so the drive is less than 2 hours even in traffic.
Hertz is the only option in Orvieto, which may not have the car you need.
Chiusi also has only Avis-Budget, and Chiusi is 50 km north of Orvieto, therefore you would need to back track south to go to Orvieto.
Why are we making a simple process so difficult? I don’t know if you plan to go there from the airport or from the city center, but either way getting there is a breeze from either place.
