Has anyone ever used www.italycar.net? They have some great deals, better than autoeurope.com or europebycar.com
Any recommendations on finding a good deal on a car that is an automatic?

We used autoeurope.com in May and rented an automatic. Everything went smoothly from the web site reservation to the people in Italy to the return of the vehicle 3 weeks later. They have an excellent reputation, and I would highly recommend using them rather than going for a "deal" and risking low-level service.
Some people have reported they had trouble actually getting an automatic, even after they reserved one. Automatics are not very common (in rental cars) over there. You'll want to double check a few days before you go by calling the rental company.
Jonathan, make sure that the rate that you are being quoted by Italycar includes ALL of the charges! (CDW), etc.
We also have had good luck with Autoeurope, and have used them on all of our trips to Italy/Sicily.
autoeurope will match or beat equivalent car rental estimates. stay with the majors is may pref. you can have prob w/ others.
We've had good luck in Italy going directly from Hertz.com. Their prices seem to be competitive with the discount people.
