Car rental in Florence

EDIT! Thank you to those who replied. I am making some changes after your feedback.

We will be renting from Florence on Sunday, May q8th and dropping off in La Spezia on the 22nd, Then we will pick up another car i La Spezia on Saturday May 24th and drop it off in Ravenna on the 25th. (Sunday)

IT looks like picking up in Florence from or near the train station is going to be easy, not yet really researched La Spezia and Ravenna - but here are my questions:
Fuel or Electric?
Best rental agency to go with?

Hi,I am trying to research car rentals in Florence. We are taking the train from Milan on Sunday, Mary 18th and want to rent a car Ferrano where we will be staying. I am a little confused as to the best place to rent one. We will return the car to Florence on May 21st and spend the night in the city. From there we will take the train to go to Cinque Terre on the 22nd. So, that all being said, where exactly is Borgno Ognissanti, and is this easier than going to the airport to rent? I don't want to try to navigate driving in Florence so avoiding that if possible would be idea.

I’m arriving from Milan to Florence’s train station on a Monday and just renting a car there (Sixt) to go to our agriturismo about 30 min outside the city. Driving from the station out of the city isn’t an issue for me …but you could get other’s thoughts if you are concerned but open to that option.

Borgno Ognissanti is near the train station. Look at the location using Goggle maps
Car agencies may or may not be open on Sunday or with shorter hours. The airport is your other option.

Use the Search function- filter by Type and Date

One thing you might want to look into is moving the Florence night so you can drive toward CT and drop the car in La Spezia. No need to do that long train ride if you don't have to!

Some agencies are still on Borgo Ognissanti (Avis-Budget, Europcar), but Sixt and Hertz are next to the station. However I think all dropped the Garage Europa on Borgo Ognissanti and most use the underground garage under the Square in front of the station. Hertz is now on Via Alamanni, on the west side of the station, but I don’t know if they use the garage under their agency on Via Alamanni or the one at the station.

I gave the directions from/to the garage under the Piazza Stazione some months ago (see below).

In November 2023, we rented from Europcar on Borgno Ognissanti and drove from Florence to Umbria. The location was very convenient and it was easy to drive out of Florence and onto the autoroute (as long as you drive away from the city center, you won't encounter any ZTLs). That's my only experience, so I can't comment on other agencies or locations.
