Our last trip (2 years ago) I booked through National. Their rentals in Florence are handled by Enterprise, had no issues and got a great car at a reasonable price. Did the same for our upcoming trip this year.

We had a really good experience with Avis thru AutoEurope at FLR
We also always book with Full insurance/No deductible for peace of mind
Make sure all drivers have an IDP (International Driving Permit) required by law and we have been asked to show at the rental counter and have seen customers that didn’t have it turned away
Get it at your local AAA
Do you homework on driving in Italy-ZTLs, parking, speed cameras, tolls etc
