Our last trip (2 years ago) I booked through National. Their rentals in Florence are handled by Enterprise, had no issues and got a great car at a reasonable price. Did the same for our upcoming trip this year.

We also always book with Full insurance/No deductible for peace of mind

Make sure all drivers have an IDP (International Driving Permit) required by law and we have been asked to show at the rental counter and have seen customers that didn’t have it turned away

Do you homework on driving in Italy-ZTLs, parking, speed cameras, tolls etc

National rent a car are handled by Enterprise all over the world not just Italy. Enterprise owns the National and Alamo brands since 2007.

When you compare rentals make sure you compare apple to apples, in particular pay attention to the insurance coverage options.
