Our party of 4 had planned to visit Siena on Oct. 20 but I have since found out that the Palio will take place that day. I'm not sure we want to experience the crowds, even though it would be very interesting.
Could anyone advise me on car rental options from Florence for a road trip in the area for one day? Where could we rent from? Where would be fun to drive to for a day?
Is anyone going to Siena on Oct. 20?

Europcar, Hertz, Avis-Budget, and all other franchises are located on the same street called Borgo Ognissanti.

There are plenty of past posts on the subject. Use the search function above.
Go the day before the Palio, even better. An unforgettable experience! Buy a neighborhood scarf and join in.
You can take the bus to Siena, and rent a car from there. We did that, for a day trip into Tuscany.
I would not want to drive within Florence at all, even if it is just going out of town!
