Hi, I did read a few similar topics. I am thinking that it might be easier and less time to pick up from a town on the way to Sinalunga area. I also read Chiusi is better for drop off. Hoping for some recommendations.

The Hertz Sansovino rental office is about 2 miles by taxi from the Florence train station. They can give you directions out of town to avoid any ZTL's.
The Orvieto Hertz office is across the street from the train station, and it's a 70 minute train ride into Rome Termini.
These are the most convenient car rental offices--all in all.

The San Sovino Hertz office is also easy to reach by tram just across from the SMN station. It is outside the ZTL so no worries if leaving Florence.

Hertz is the only company in Orvieto. Chiusi has also Europcar and Avis.
Getting out of Florence is not a problem. ZTL cameras are only at the historical center entry points. You cannot be fined while you exit.
