We are renting a car for a week to visit the hill towns of Tuscany. We were originally planning on taking the bus from Florence to Siena, staying overnight and then getting a car rental in Siena and dropping off in Orvieto. I went through Autoeurope but was not able to get a car in Siena. I was able to get a Rental the day before in Florence, picking it up at the downtown office via Borge Ognissanti. I am just wondering if it a straight shot and fairly east to get out of Florence from there or is it close by ZTL zones with possibility of ending up in one?
Our car through Autoeurope is a Hertz rental car. When I went on the Hertz website (didn't call them directly yet) I could get a car from Siena. Has anyone booked directly from Hertz, picking up car in Siena? Any thoughts on these options, parking overnight in Siena, etc. The one advantage I thought about getting the car in Florence would be to make a quick stop at a place or two along the way to Siena. Any info/thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.
