Hi, we will be renting a car at FCO in a couple of weeks. I have reserved a rental from Hertz, including supercover for 1 month. I have been exploring options and it seems like my reservation is a fair amount over other options. I will be paying for the car using a Chase Sapphire card, which says they cover CDW etc.
I am just looking for advice on which company to use and what coverage to get. I don't mind spending a little more for less hassle but don't want to get ripped off.
Any help appreciated
We used our Chase (British Airways Visa, not Sapphire), and had coverage with it, so didn’t need to pay extra for any Super coverage. Then again, we didn’t have any accidents or theft, so it never came up as an issue, either. We rented from a small outfit in far western Tuscany, which doesn’t have a Rome airport service, so I can’t offer them as an option.
But have you looked at Europcar, Sixt, or Enterprise? See if their Websites offer better options than Hertz, with and without full CDW insurance coverage (which you don’t necessarily require). There’s also AutoEurope.com, a third-party rental consolidator, who will give you their best recommendation - see if they have anything better than Hertz.
