We’ll be traveling by car from Abruzzo and want to spend our last 4-5 nights in/around the Amalfi Coast. We’re targeting staying in Amalfi town or Atrani for ease of access to ferries. We’d also like to visit Pompeii/Herculeneum and maybe Paestum and we’re flying out of Naples to go home. When is it best to get rid of the car as we don’t really want to drive around the AC - do we drop the car when first arriving and take public transportation to Pompeii etc. and then ferry down to Atrani? Once in Atrani we’re more interested in relaxing and a little local sightseeing to nearby villages (not Capri). Just not sure what end to do Pompeii on without going back and forth a lot.

Drop the car before AC
Salerno might be a good option
You can ferry from there to Amalfi then taxi or walk the short distance to Atrani
Staying in Salerno is also an option
No matter where you stay on AC you will likely need to stay in Naples the night before departure unless your flight out is late afternoon
