Sorry, this rental would be from Naples and only for 3-4 days, then returning back to Naples. Would it be better to rent at the airport or the train station?

Where are you going to be driving? Public trans for the Amalfi coast is really great, and a rental car could be a hinderance.

I too wonder why you need a car. First you pick one up and sign a contract in Italian. Then you share the road with Italians and finally attempt to park and hope that the car looks the same when you return to it. My coworker lived in Naples and his office would place bets on how long a new employee would make it before his car was damaged.

Yes, if you're going to the Amalie coast from Naples airport, leave the driving to others. You Can either take a bus direct from airport to Sorrento, or take the bus to the train station to catch the circumvesuviana to Sorrento, or take the bus down to the port to catch a ferry to Sorrento. Once in Sorrento, switch to the bus for Positano, or ferries to Capri or the town of Amalfi itself. But pretty much in no world would I want to be driving a car down there (and my husband is Italian, so we have no language gap.).
