Anyone have a suggestion for a reliable and affordable car rental company near Lucca/Pisa? We are planning on dropping off in Orvieto several days later. Thanks!

Hi Aubrey, I picked up a rental car in Lucca last month that I rented with Autoeurope before I left. They are a consolidator and the actual rental company was Hertz. The office was located outside the walls of Lucca (we were walking with our backpacks and it was probably a 4 block walk outside the gate). On the Autoeurope site you can find out whether you can drop the car in Orvieto or not.

We rented from Hertz in Lucca. They are just outside the walls near the Piazza Verdi, which has a tourist office where we left two bags for three hours for three euros. You can take the 12 bus from the train station to Piazza Verdi. There is a bus stop just outside the station, but that is not for the 12 bus. You need to go around the building to the other side, on Viale Giusti. I just wrote up a note about using vroomvroomvroom.com to reserve the car. Check that out. We just returned from Italy and did all this 10 days ago. It went off without a hitch. Ciao!
