What is your best recommendation for a car rental company from FCO for ease of pick up and customer experience? I’m also dropping off in Florence so require ease of drop off as well. Hearing nightmare stories.

They work with the major companies (Europcar, Hertz, Avis Budget, Sixt, etc.)
In Florence you can drop off at either city center (near SMN station) or airport.
