Car pickup and drop off help needed

After our time in Lake Garda we will head down to Florence to pick up the rental car. As far as I can tell, it looks like we will need to take the bus in Salo to Verona which will take 90 minutes. Then the Bullet train from Verona to Florence is 90 minutes. After 8 days in Tuscany, we will head to Rome for our last stop. Which Rome location would be best to drop off the car or should we drop it off before Rome? We are staying in Piazza Navona.

When we headed down from Tuscany to drop a rental car in Rome, we just dropped at the airport and then took the train into town. I had no interest in driving in Rome !!

Drop your car at Tibertina Station, then 10-15 minutes taxi to Piazza Navona area.

Other option, is to drop the car in Chiusi
(25 m from Montepulciano) then train to Rome.

From where in Tuscany will you be leaving to drop car? I think it's Montepulciano?
If so Chiusi would be my choice. The train is right there. No need to drive all the way to Rome.
Be sure to check open/closed times of the rental agency.

I dropped my Hertz car at their office across the street from the Orvieto train station. It's a very favorite place to pickup and drop off rental cars. And the hilltown is also a very popular city to visit. The Hwy A1 is the controlled access road that runs from Florence to Rome.

The local train into Rome Termini was 70 minutes.
