Car pick up Florence or Siena?

We will be flying into Rome and train to Florence for 3 nights then planned to pick up a car and drive Pienza for 4 nights. Wondering if
it is advisable to pick up a car in Florence to drive there or better to train to Siena and then pick up the car there.? We want to see Siena maybe stay over night there and the head to Pienza for 3 nights instead of 4. We then plan to then drop car off in Chiusi to train back to Rome.
Does this sound ok. I've heard that getting a car in Florence is difficult but mainly dropping it off is just wondering if picking it up is just as cub a hassle. Thanks!

I don't find Florence that difficult in terms of exiting with a car , but if you want to see Siena, I'd take the bus there (or train) and rent the car when you leave Siena.

Rent in Florence, drive to Pienza. Visit Siena while you are in Pienza. It's a short drive. No need to change hotels. Changing hotels is time consuming. When you visit Siena look for directions to the STADIO (stadium), often symbolized by a soccer ball. There are plenty of parking areas around the stadium and it's walking distance from the historical center.

Ok sounds like picking up the car in Florence is not a big deal, thank you! Now wondering about driving to Orvieto to drop car versus Chiusi and spend the night there before getting train to Rome. We will have 4 nights for Tuscany after leaving Florence, 3 Pienza and overnight in Orvieto?

Returning the car in Orvieto is possible but only if you rent from Hertz. Hertz is the only rental company in town.
The other possibility is to keep the car also in Orvieto and return it in Rome. That would probably be best if you want to drive to Civita while in Orvieto.
