CAR museums and factories

Ferrari and Lamborghini museums and factories? Will be in Emilio Reggio for 3 days and planning to visit the Ferrari Museums as well as the Lamborghini museum...is it worth paying/visiting the factories as well? purchasing tickets online, ahead of time, necessary? we will be visiting the area, end of September 2016

I gifted my husband a Ferrari Museum experience. I believe I paid $99 for both of us and it included trips to the museums with lots of very nice cars, the history, cars in movies. It also included agriculture museums- we went to a balsamic vinegar factory, meat/hams, and I bypassed the vineyard (I do not like wine, we are more into TEQUILA!) and missed the parmesan cheese factory because there was an overturned truck blocking the road. We were picked across the street from the Bologna train station (supposed to be in red bus but had a Mercedes car- too bad they did not send a Lamborghini for us!) and had a driver all day since we were the only ones that booked it (we went last March, 2016). The package included an 8x10 foto of him sitting in a choice of 3 cars, a flash drive, and I believe a lanyard. We really enjoyed it! They also have a Ducatti museum but I think it is reserved for Ducatti owners.

We went to the Lamborghini factory in March and my husband LOVED it. Small group tours and very interesting. We also were able to get an embossed piece of leather free- our group was interested and they took scraps and showed us how they pressed the design in. A prize for my husband. He also went to the Ferrari museum but not factory. He found it interesting but preferred the Lamborghini factory tour.

I am wondering what sgrigorians decided to do. We planning on visiting both places next summer and I would love to hear more about the logistics of visiting them. Is it possible/advisable to visit both in one day?

We rented a car so we went to the Lamborghini factory tour and the Ferrari museum in one day BUT we rented the car because there was a strike which prevented us from taking the bus to the Lamborghini factory from Bologna. Easy drive from Bologna to Lamborghini factory and then back toward Modena for the Ferrari museum.

We had rented a car for our beautiful trip from Milan to Rome. The Lamborghini museum and factory as well as the Ferrari museums are worth visiting. We visited the Lamborghini factory , which I had reserved the tickets online, was well worth it. The factory tour is only available weekdays. So if you want to visit both museums and Lamborghini museum in one day, it is possible, if your time in Modena or the region is limited. My husband also test drove/rented the Lamborghini Huracan (available across the street from the factory/museum for a $150/20 min drive 😳 Which he said was well worth it....The Ferrari museums are very commercialized with multiple eateries .....

Linda and SGrigorians, Thank you both for your replies. That is helpful. I was hoping to not rent a car, but based on the research I have done, it looks like it would not be possible to do both in one day with public transportation. Maybe I just rent a car for that day. I appreciate your help!
