We are renting a car in Italy and have CDW coverage. Our car insurance here in the states does not cover us while driving in Europe. Do we need additional insurance other than what we have? We are considering adding zero-deductible coverage when we pick up the car. Thanks for any advice!
We always get the zero deductible
Peace of mind
In Sicily, we had no choice, our insurance does not cover Italy
ALWAYS,ALWAYS choose zero deductible. Sure, you'll feel like they "hosed" you however, when you return the car, you don't have to spend any time going over e very scratch and ding.
Thank you so much for all the replies. I agree, the peace of mind will be worth the cost even if we feel as if we just bought the car!
Car rental in Italy has a lot of issues. If you know what ZTL is, if you know about old cities, you are knowledgable.
If you have never heard of ZTL, you need to do your research. You can be out a big sum.
Try looking on Autoeurope, they offer cars from a number of rental companies. We have always found the best prices there for zero deductible, sometimes called extended cover by Autoeurope.
Adding zero deductible at the counter is a rip off in my opinion.
