We will be in Turn in September, and we were wondering if we need to keep our rental car in order to see the sights. We will be driving from Barbaresco, and we are not sure if we need to keep the rental while in Turin for three days. Any advice?
In my opinion no. We have visited twice for 3-4 days each time. To reach the Savoy Palace we took a bus and had no problem doing so. There are plenty of things to see in the city center.
Like most Italian cities, Torino has terrific public transportation. In three visits we’ve never felt the remotest need for a car. Great Metro, buses, trams and the occasional taxi.
There is a ZTL in central Turin, where most attractions are.
Parking, even along the roads, is scarce, expensive and regulated.
You'd waste time looking for parking. Then you'd have to walk anyway because parking in front of museums/squares/restaurants is either impossible or forbidden.
Thank you! That’s three days worth we’ll save in the (already very expensive) car rental.
