Capri vs. Sorrento

I guess if you thought Capri was awesome, you ought to stay there again. It's prettier, as you know. However, if you want to do day trips to Pompeii or the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento would be more convenient.

I prefer Sorrento as it's a little larger and it's easy to get to Capri, Positano & Naples on the ferry or Pompeii on the train. I also find it a better value and the hotels on the cliffs have killer views and cliff hanging pools. We like the Minerva Hotel but be sure to get a upper room with balcony. Settimo Cielo is across the street & a little better value and has lots of balconies. With both hotels you will view the ferries, Naples, & the Marina Grande below. Both are RS recommendations & offer discounts and many people post pictures on www.tripadvisor.com of them.

Joe I think you should stay a city along the Amalfi Coast as your doing yourself an injustice if you don't drive the coastal road to (at minimum) the city of Ravello. Capri is nice, but the cities along the Amalfi Coast are breath-taking! With Capri you are limited.
