Taking my wife for her birthday to Capri for a week n April 2014. We need recommendations for: Transportation to/from Capri (we will be flying in to either Rome or Naples), Lodging (hotel or B&B), restaurants, sites to see. Thanks!
I've done Capri only as day boat trips from the mainland, therefore I can't suggest hotels. And don't remember the names of Capri's restaurants either (time to go back, it's been a few years). But I can at least give you the boat info from Naples: http://www.capri.net/it/orari-traghetti (click on English is you are not familiar with Italian, although I suggest you do get familiar with Italian at least some basics to read timetables)
I've also been lately researching Capri. WikiTravel seems to have some good info, including names of places to eat and stay, etc. They aren't 'recommendations', but TripAdvisor probably has reviews. I haven't gotten to the Review stage yet, still only gathering info. http://wikitravel.org/en/Capri Seems like a nice romantic spot to take your wife. Have a great time!
Thank you both for the information
Joe, For travel to Capri, a flight to Naples would probably be somewhat easier. It's a relatively simple matter to get to the island from there. Have a look at THIS CHART for all the details. For some ideas on Capri hotels, have a look at Trip Advisor: www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g187783-Capri_Island_of_Capri_Province_of_Naples_Campania-Hotels.html Trip Advisor should also have good suggestions on restaurants there. For "sights to see", the Italy Guidebook has some ideas (check your local Library). The only other suggestion I can offer is - bring lots of money! It's not a cheap place to visit. Happy travels!
