Capri to Positano - boat ride with luggage

We are considering traveling from Capri to Positano on a boat in early October. Anyone have any experience about how the
luggage is handled once arriving in Positano - as they do Not have a dock to disembark from? Do you have to transfer to a dingy and hope that our luggage does not end up in the water? Or shall we just consider a boat trip to Sorrento or Naples and arrange for a private driver for our trip to Positano? Thanks!

I've seen ferries dock at the pier by the beach, so I'm not sure why your boat wouldn't dock there too. The only time I've seen a dingy used in Positano is to take people to the annual fish festival on the next beach along the coast.

There is a huge dock in Positano the ferry's pull up to, luggage is able to be pulled but it's very steep to get to the hotels, but a lot of people on the boat have luggage. There is no need for a dingy of any kind. There is a bag service you can hire to bring your bags to where you are staying.

The ferries to Positano are much smaller than the ferries to Sorrento or Naples. That is expressly so they can pull alongside a much smaller pier in Positano. October is less busy than September (check that the ferry TO POSITANO even runs in October) but you should beware of the ferry filling up, especially the last one of the day.
