Capri to Naples via ferry

We are in the final stages of planning our June trip. We are planning to stop for the afternoon in Naples to visit the archaeological Museum in Naples before going to Rome. I like to book my train in advance to save a few dollars. My question is, is it necessary to book the high speed ferry from Capri to Naples in advance as well? Is there a benefit price wise? Do they run the risk of selling out? Thank you in advance for your response.

If you know what time and day you're leaving Capri, just pick the return ferry tickets as you purchase your tickets to Capri. Or at the ferry terminal as you arrive. There no discounts for advance purchases.

The Archeological Museum is opened every day from 9-19:00. But (closed) on Tuesday. Cost is €15, under 18 free. Figure 1-2 hours inside. However there is no luggage storage so you might want to first head to Napoli Centrale to check your luggage at the left luggage facility. Then take the metro to either the Cavore or Museo stop.

Keep all of this in mind to allow enough time to return to the station if you pre purchase tickets to Rome.

Oh thank you for the advice on the luggage. I thought that I had read on the museums site that they had luggage storage. We all will have carry on luggage with us. I was hoping to store it while at the museum.

I am finalizing my trip for April as well and have some ferry questions. In Greece last year, we did not get ferry tickets in advance and they were sold out! We missed seeing any other the smaller islands from Athens. We will be taking the ferry from Naples-Ischia and Naples-Capri.

Any suggestions on what website to use and when to book??

Go to capri.net

I always book in advance when I know my plans. Just allow enough time between the port and the train station. In theory, they are very close, but there could be some traffic.

Thank you. I guess I'm wondering if the ferry's will sell out? I'd rather not buy them in advance if I don't have to. Good news on Archeological Museum, they have a coat room that hold items like rucksacks. My "luggage" bags are the size of rucksacks. So, I'm thinking we are good. I hope!

What they're referring to is the size of a school backpack. If you are able to sneak it in, leave nothing of value in it.

@kath27_99

Hard to say! I was extremely upset in Greece when this happened. I will probably buy mine in advance.
