Capri to Naples?

Hi! We'll be traveling to Italy next month and will need to arrange to get from Capri back to Naples for a train ride to Rome. Are there any suggestions as to the best way to do this? I see that there are a number of sites with hydrofoils heading to Naples . . . . is there easy access to these ferries, do you need to make advanced reservations, how about transportation from the ferry terminal to the Naples train station?

By the way, is there a more direct way to get from Capri to Rome? We are leaving from Rome the next day so we'll ultimately want to wind up near the airport.

Thanks for your help with this!!!

Capri is an island, and the only way on or off is by ferry or hydrofoil. You can purchase tickets in advance or at the time of your trip. Easy Peasy. When you arrive in Naples, take a taxi to Napoli Centrale. Enjoy.

There's competing ferry and hydrofoil companies that cover the region. The difference is just speed and departure times. There’s no need to reserve these tickets before you get there.

The ferry dock in Naples is not near the train station. I would just take a taxi, which is it’s own unique travel experience. If you’re game, you could walk through town and down Spaccanapoli if you want to get a taste of the place and grab lunch. I think it’s a shame to breeze past Naples, but that’s a long day if you’re ultimately trying to get to Rome.
