Good step.

More cities need to do this. Yea, Capri!
Good news!
It's about time!!!! I wish more jurisdictions would do this. Many of the restaurants in this area have switched to biodegradable straws, so that kind of solves the problem. The ban on plastic bags is spreading here too.
In addition to banning single use items, improvements in the recycling industry are needed as well. We're going through a few "growing pains" in that regard - https://globalnews.ca/news/5207256/economics-of-recycling-canada/ . B.C. apparently has a good recycling program, which I'm happy to see.
If people were not slobs and litterbugs, there would be no 'plastics' problem.
Joe, I think this one might be a bit more than a litterbug issue? It's the non-biodegradable pile of trash 20,000 tourists per day can generate on a small island with no place to put it?
I support the ban but wonder how they're going to police what tourists, both day-trippers and travelers staying on the island, are bringing in?
