Hello!
Wanted a little advice as to whether or not I should try to change our current plans a little bit......
As of right now, we are arriving in Capri in the late afternoon (mid September) and had planned on visiting the Gardens of Augustus and having a quiet evening.
The next day we had planned on taking a day trip to Positano but I was wondering how do we go about getting there? By boat?
The next day we were planning on doing a boat tour of Capri/Blue Grotto/Anicapri, and then heading to Sorrento to stay there for the night.
Is this doable, or should I try to rearrange what town we are staying in?
(If I was to rearrange, I was thinking of staying on Capri the two days, and then on the day we check out dropping our bags at the hotel in Sorrento and then continuing on for the day in Positano....?)

Travel between Capri and Positano is by boat. The best way to rearrange your plans would be to home base in Sorrento & do day trips to Capri and Positano. Of the three places, IMO the least interesting one to spend the night in is Capri.

Mindy - Good Job planning!! I've been a tour consultant for many years and just finished doing those stops in May. Not only "doable" But - A whole lot of fun - You really will like all that you chose. For Positano please take the Sita bus from the central square in Sorrento and sit on the right side!! You can return to Sorrento either by hydrofoil or the same bus, whichever you like.
As for Tom's remark about a night in Capri - It's all good - I'm Italian and a bit prejudiced but I love all the locations you're going to be in.

You should use Sorrento as a base and take your day trips from there. It is a good transportation hub for the area and both Capri and Positano are easily reached by ferry/hydrofoil. I think you will spend all your time checking in and out of hotels and not enjoying your stay as much.

I actually really want to stay in Capri, so I'm not planning on changing those reservations.
It sounds like it'll be much easier to day-trip to Positano after we have transferred to our hotel in Sorrento, so looks like that'll be our new game plan.
