Capri, Pompeii, Herculaneum in two days

We will be leaving Rome early Sat. morning in Oct. and will be staying in Sorrento for two nights. Would you recommend stopping in Herculaneum and Pompeii on the way and doing Capri on Sunday or go straight to Sorrento and spend just the afternoon on Capri doing Pompeii and Herculaneum on Sunday? Is there a best time of day to see Blue Grotto? Thanks.

I would give Capri the whole day. You can stop at Pompeii and Herculaneum on the way to Sorrento. Make sure to leave Rome as early as you can to give yourself enough time to see both sites. Donna
