We will be on a cruise and dock in Naples. We will be going on a tour to Pompeii but then have the chance to see either the island of Capri or take a quick drive to the Amalfi Coast. I would love to see all of them but won't have the time. Which would be the most memorable to see? I'm so torn.
Yes, both are great but I'd do the tour of Amalfi coast as you won't have enough time to do much at Capri like go on the boat to the magnificent blue grotto.
The main part of Capri has very commercial twist, similar to Rodeo drive with the same stores, etc.
If I was limited, I'd tour the coast-it is the most spectacular in the world!
I would vote with Don for the Amalfi Coast, one
of the most beautiful in the world. If possible
drive or take the bus one way then take the ferry
back the other giving you differing but both
spectacular views.
Defintely Amalfi Coast. I just spent 4 days in the area and was very disappointed to have spent one of them in Capri. I would only recommend going there for a few hours in the morning if you need to say that you've been to Capri? But if you don't feel the need I would highly avoid going there with the thousands of other tourists!! Spend the time in Sorrento or Positano!
Just got back, and we did both. The bus ride along the coast was fabulous. I suggest you avoid Almalfi town because it is a Disney-World-like tourist zoo. From Amalfi we opted to taxi up to Ravello, which was great but expensive. We could not fit on the Ravello bus, as it was jammed with humanity (arms and legs practically hanging out the windows). Hopefully if you do the coastal bus it will stop somewhere else on the coast other than Amalfi town. On Capri we skipped the Capri town mobs and went straight up to the town of AnaCapri then rode the chair lift up Mt Solara. That was awesome. Hope that helps.
