We have an opportunity to visit Capri or Amalfi Coast for 3 days in September/October. Any suggestions on where to stay, places to eat and what kind of party life can we expect Thanks, JSD
For our December 2012/January 2013 visit, we stayed in Sorrento (actually Piano di Sorrento, just north of Sorrento proper). It was Christmas/New Year's, so the towns were decorated, but we weren't exactly looking for big partying, and I can't suggest how festive things would be for you. However, that would put you in between Capri and the Amalfi Coast, so you could reach either from the Sorrento area. Our B&B owner said that if he could pick one ideal time to visit (for the best combination of decent weather and minimal crowds) it would be April. At least September/October will be just early autumn, and the hordes of visitors, compared with summer, will be far fewer.
If you were looking for party life, I would stick to a bigger town, Sorrento (on the other side of the coast from Amalfi) would have a little more nightlife, but if you were looking for a LOT, Salerno would have the most, behind Naples (which if I was looking for nightlife, might overwhelm me a bit) in the area....
