Capri/ Naples/ Pompeii

How easy/ how expensive is it to get from Capri to Naples and back? Is it easy to navigate the ferry system? Is there a ferry system? ;)

I want to stay in a hotel on Capri for two nights and a hotel in Naples for two nights... While in Naples for those two days, I'm planning on seeing the markets and pompeii/ Mt. Vesuvius... Capri, I'll see the blue grotto - and I'd like to spend most of the time relaxing by the water.

I know crime is super high in Naples, so I don't want to stay in a bad area. Any suggestions for hotels in these areas?

Thank you so much for your time!!! Happy travels :)

Marie,

YES, there is most certainly a Ferry system! You might check www.capri.net/en/getting-here for information on travel from Capri to Naples. You can either travel via Ferry (Traghetto) or Hydrofoil (Aliscafo) which is much faster (and of course also more expensive).

I'm not sure about "relaxing by the water" when on Capri, unless you mean the pool. Since the majority of the town is above Marina Grande, I'm not sure how many Hotels will be close to the ocean?

I didn't find Naples to be a "super high" crime area (even wandering about with expensive Camera gear), but perhaps I was just lucky? You might have a look at Hotel Chiaia which is close to Piazza del Plebiscito. It's located in the same building as an Embassy, so seemed like a "good neighborhood".

You might want to take a Taxi from the Hotel to Napoli Centrale for your trip to Pompeii (via the Circumvesuviana). Be sure to plan your travel to Vesuvius carefully so that you don't get back to Naples too late.

Happy travels!
