Capri in the rain, questions about the ferry

My husband and I are in Sorrento now and rain is expected for the next several days. We have plans to go to Capri and it looks like Wednesday will be the best weather. For those of you who have traveled to Capri in the rain, any issues with Ferry cancelations that we need to be aware of. We don’t want to get stuck on the island.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sandy, it would be good to hear from multiple people regarding weather to/from Capri but we left Naples on a high-speed ferry to Capri some years ago in pouring rain without an issue. It thankfully stopped right before we reached the dock but was very wet almost the whole way. As I understand it, the cancellation issue usually isn't simply because of rain but high winds combined with heavy rain and whatnot that can create dangerously choppy seas. A strong electrical storm might also cause a cancellation. I'd look for more complete forecasts for a better picture as you get closer to Wed.?

The people who live on the island rely on water transport for business/errands they need to conduct on the mainland so I don't think they cancel the ferries unless absolutely necessary. It was more common to see that from Positano's dock than Sorrento's or Capri's.

Thank you Kathy. I appreciate your input. I asked the people at the hotel, but they weren’t clear on the ferry travel and cancelation risks. I am hoping that the weather clears up a bit.

The bigger and better question is the weather conditions on the bay. Rain is not a problem but IF the wind is high and water is rough with high waves --- then you can have a problem with cancellation.

Thank you Frank. I will check for the wind conditions as well.
