Capri boat tour question

I am interested in taking a boat tour around Capri on a 'gozzo' to see the various grottos and the general coastline.
The tour company I have looked at is charging 175,00 euro for the boat and captain for 3 hours. For a guide, it is an additional 175,00 euro.
Is a guide necessary? I know they will likely tell wonderful stories and give history and context that will make things more enjoyable but won't a captain also offer some tidbits? or would they be prohibited from answering questions or explaining things to us?
I am willing to spend the money if it's worth it but want to be sure.
Any advise is appreciated.
thanks!

The price for the boat tour sounds a bit steep. We paid 90 Euro for a tour around the entire island which took about 2 1/2 hours. It didn't include the Blue Grotto because the weather conditions didn't allow for it that day. That would have probably added some extra time and expense.

The issue with the captain might be language. Our captain spoke some broken English and we don't really understand enough Italian to hold a conversation. We didn't get long stories, just barely enough to learn a bit more about the island. Which was fine with us. If you speak Italian I don't think you need a tour guide. Most likely the captain would be a local person who probably knows enough about his home to be able to answer questions.

In our case we didn't plan ahead and simply approached one of the skippers at the harbour after coming off the ferry. There'll be a number of those private boat guys waiting for tourists landing with the ferry.

Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the boat and his owner anymore. there was another Helpline person who took a tour with the same guy and loved it as much as we did. We posted about him before but with this limited search function I just can't find the info ....

The boat tour around Capri was one of the highlights of our trip last September. I wanted to see the Blue Grotto but the tide was too high that day and it was not accessible. We paid 100 euro for about a 2 1/2 hour tour. We were actually approached by Antonio at the dock and decided to take him up on the tour. It was a very nice boat and he spoke English fairly well. We went to all the grottos and Antonio did a great job pointing out the sites and giving us some history. He even did some fishing as we sailed along but, unfortunately, didn't catch anything!
