Capri Blue Grotto Question

On May 15th we will be taking the first ferry from Sorrento to Capri, storing our luggage and want to do the blue grotto first thing. Looking at the two providers Rick mentions in his book to go to the Blue Grotto we are planning for Motoscafisti di Capri, only because they have been doing it since the 50's. My 1st question, we want to take the full circle tour around the Island which includes the Blue Grotto instead of just doing the Blue Grotto. We are planning to take the 1st sailing for that which is 9:30 and it looks like the Blue Grotto portion is at the end of the circle cruise. My question: with everything I have read about the crowds at the Blue Grotto, by taking the full circle tour am I putting us at the Blue Grotto portion way to late in the morning?
2nd question; We plan on being at the luggage check place at 9:00 when they open. Does anyone know if there is usually a big line of folks checking their luggage and if we should allocate allot of time for the process of checking our luggage? We have a 1/2 hour between the time the luggage check place opens (9:00) and when the 1st sailing is (9:30). At risk?

With that first ferry, you’ll be among the first on the island. There really won’t be a line for anything, even getting tickets for the boat tours will be a snap. It’s really amazingly quiet and serene. It takes a couple hours for the crowds to really accumulate in force. Touring Capri, and particularly Anacapri before lunch is really quite lovely. That’s the good news.

The not so great news: There’s no guarantee you’ll get into the Blue Grotto. I took the early boat ride and the grotto was not open at that time due to conditions. I was told this at the ticket booth, still did the circle tour and really enjoyed it. Overall, the day stopover with the early ferry you have planned is totally worth doing. I would recommend proceeding as planned and taking your chances. The regular boat tour, Anacapri and riding the chairlift up to Monte Solaro are unforgettable in their own right. Missing the Blue Grotto was no big deal.

Three of our four days on Capri no boats were going around the island or into grottos. We went the last day and honestly, I much preferred our time on the island away from the crowds in areas with great views such as near Punta Tragara and Giardini Agosto.
