Hello, Vacationing in Italy with my kids this July. I have been to Capri before but not the Blue Grotto. We will be staying in Sorrento and are planning to leave first thing in the morning to Capri. A few years ago I took a ferry (I think) and it took quite a while to get to Capri. Can you please advise as to what type of transportation(Company, etc)we should take to Capri as well as the quickest way to see the Blue Grotto in Capri when we get there. I have read that there are boat tours around Capri that include the Grotto which is a better option than taking the 2 boats to get to the Grotto.

Mary, The quickest way to get to Capri from Sorrento would be via Aliscafo (Hydrofoil). They have numerous departures every day, which can be seen on this website - www.capri.net/en/ferry-schedule?path_id=14 (travel time about 20 minutes). For your visit to the Blue Grotto, have a look at this website - www.capri.com/en/s/la-grotta-azzurra (you'll be arriving at Marina Grande, so you'll probably see signs for Grotto tours there). There's also information in the Italy Guidebook. BE SURE to note the time of the last boat back to Sorrento. In July it's likely going to be hot, crowded and chaotic there. Happy travels!
