Capri

I have several questions. My wife and I are planning a anniversary trip to Capri in September. A friend stayed at Caesar Augustus in AnaCapri several years ago and loved it. What do you guys think about staying in AnaCapri (considering the taxi rides etc...) to Capri? Also, would you suggest first staying somewhere along the coast a day or two first in order to see mainland coast vs traveling from Capri one or two days? If so, where would you stay on the mainland and what would you see (we will be there a total of a week or so).
Also, any other suggestions or insight about Caesar Augustus or any other places to consider?

In the mainland consider the Amalfi coast (Positano or any other town around there) or Sorrento, on the Sorrentina Peninsula. Other places to visit there in the area are Pompeii, Herculaneum, Mount Vesuvius and of course Naples.

Darren - I sent you a PM on Virtuoso benefits at the Caesar Augustus - an incredible hotel! On the mainland, I prefer Positano and Ravello. Both can be quite beautiful. You might also look at using a driver to take you around in this area, rather than using the SITA buses... just depends on your budget. We love to drive ourselves when we visit... we've done it in a rental car, on a bus... and on a motorino - The last was perhaps the most fun. But I'd not recommend that mode unless you are quite experienced on a motorcycle. We rode our motorini in Rome daily so we were perhaps "over-experienced." Good Luck!

Thanks Ron, do you have any other hotel suggestions on Capri?
