Capitoline Museum help - Rome (late Oct)

I'm trying to understand the museum's website but for some reason I can't select the language dropdown box. I can see the opening and closing hours 9.30-19.30 but I also see hours from 11.00-19.30 and 09.30-14.00 and I'm having trouble understanding it. We're interested in going to the museum early afternoon of Oct 28 or late afternoon on Oct 29 or 31st. We need to stay flexible for those days so I would love to get any tips about the museum but especially to understand exactly what the hours are for those days. TIA!

Also, does anyone know of the best, hopefully free or low cost, translation app? I'm not planning on relying on it all the time obviously but it might be handy.

Thanks!

I was able to access the English version of the website. Regular hours are 9.30 to 19.30, every day, except Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve which are 9.30 to 14.00, and New Year’s Day is 11.00 to 19.30. So no issues with going at the end of October. Enjoy!

Thanks! I might have had the issue with the dropdown box because I'm using my Kindle Fire instead of my computer. I appreciate the help!

"Best" is subjective. I like Microsoft Translator for iOS. Many like Google Translate. Just pick one that also translates text shot by your camera, so you can translate menus, signs, etc.

We visited it last month in Sept. Getting the video guide at the desk where you buy tickets is helpful, but at times it was difficult to figure out what room we were in to match up with the guide since not all the rooms had numbers that we could find. Depending on how interested you are in this museum you might want to consider looking for a public tour of the museum.

Thanks for the information! Very helpful.

Also the idea of making sure that the translator can read text is a very important point, illustrated clearly by the fact that I had a problem reading the text on the website. 🤔🙂

@John!!! I thought it was just me! I felt like I was going around in circles at times trying to follow the AV guide, lol. I got the feet statue parts in the first courtyard area but then as I went up, things went downhill in my experience with the guide, lol. Still, I'd get it again and maybe would be less confused! What I could never figure out last time was how to get to was the terrace restaurant with the wonderful view of Rome! I'd done it before but .....

@Kelly - should be no problem just doing a walk up to buy your tickets when it fits into your schedule.

Don't worry about it. Just do a walk up. I was there when Rome was jammed in the late Spring and there was no line. The museum was almost empty.

It is a great museum! Have a great time! I have been to Rome many times and went for the first time this last time and was glad I went.

How does the Capitoline compare to the National Roman Museum? If you could only go to one, which you you go to? Not trying to hijack OP thread. I think she got her answer.

Thanks for the information. I had heard that the Capitoline Museum shouldn't be missed and that we should try and go to the cafe on the terrace for a great view.
