Am I okay purchasing tickets for the capitoline museum when I get to the museum? I am going mid- June. I would like to go in the morning or around lunch time. Thanks in advance

Should not be a problem. It is an amazing place! And I don't like many museums!

Its fine, Rick Steves book was much more helpful than their audioguide and the place is a labyrinth! Enjoy and make sure to see the wolf with Romulus and Remus!

If you can, make the time to go into Vittorio Emanueleto to the balcony on the opposite side of the piazza for great views of the Forum.

It's a great museum, but I agree that their audioguide was hard to follow. Using Rick's book will be easier.
