Capella Sansevero

As a day trip from Sorrento it's suggested that we walk in order to see and enjoy more of Naples. Any good directions from train station?

First, get a good Napoli street map, whether on paper or on your phone or tablet. Yes, you can walk from the station to the top of "Spaccanapoli", which is a long narrow street running across downtown Napoli. The Capella Sansevero is a short block off to the right, about halfway down that long street. I will say that I found it somewhat confusing making my way that short way from the station to the top of that street, even though it was not far, because small streets in the area meet at odd angles, and street signs may not exist or show different names than on the map. Also, it seems that Spaccanapoli, which means "split Napoli" because it sort of divides downtown in half, is not actually the name of the street, but a nickname. The street has several different names along its course, and I personally found that when walking from the station and I asked for the way to Spaccanapoli, various people didn't even recognize that name. While many people have commented that viewing the Veiled Christ sculpture in the Capella Sansevero was an especially moving experience, I myself did not feel that, for me it was a very nice and unusual religious sculpture, but not a spiritual moment. It is a pretty expensive ticket of €7 for a very limited number of works, although even though the site was not included on the Campania Art Card, when I showed the card they still reduced the admission by €2. Naples was great, although I did find Spaccanapoli to be more touristy and less narrow and less ethnically quaint than I had expected from the RS Italy books.

Jo,

The easiest way is to take the metro blue line 2 to the Museo stop.

Cross the street heading in the direction of the Archeological Museum go about I block, turn left onto

the street next to Galleria Principe (this may be closed) if not walk thru it, then walk thru Piazza Bellini to

Via del Tribunali turn left. Contuine straight to Vico San Domenico Maggorie turn right go 1 block turn left.

Capella Sansevero is on your left. if you go as far as the plague monument, you've gone too far, turn around

Many other churches in this area worth seeing. As mentioned ,Santa Chirita and Jesu Nuovo.

This route takes you to the old heart of the city. From here head down via Toledo to Piazza Plebiscito.

Here you will find Palazzo Reale, Castel del Ovo, Galleria Umberto, and San Carlos opera house
