Will there be a problem getting around Rome Sunday, September 4th due to the canonization of Mother Teresa? Any suggestions as to what to see/do on a Sunday would be appreciated. What times does the city come to life on a Sunday?
If it is anything like the canonization of Pope John Paul, the area around the Vatican will ba a madhouse for Saturday and Sunday. Stay on the other side of the river.
Many sites open at 8:00/8:30/9:00 on Sunday: Colosseo, Borghese, other museums,, but traffic is blessedly light and an early walk can be delightful.
We were in Rome for the beatification of Mother Teresa and it was indeed a madhouse. But we didn't have trouble getting around. The public transportation was crowded but not impossible. Just leave yourself lots of time.
