Has anyone purchased Canfora sandals while on Capri? I dearly want to get a pair when I am there this summer..where is it located? how is the store? do they speak english, b/c my Italian is rusty thanks!
Hi Mary Ann- Sandals were on my to do list was well when we went to the Amalfi Coast last year. Will you only be in Capri and are you bent on Canfora, or just custom sandals? On my last trip, we happened to do the Amalfi Coast before a day trip to Capri. I saw a few places in Sorrento, and fell in love with a pair at Safari sandals in Positano. if you're headed to Positano, definitely check it out. My pair had really cool enameled sealife, and cost 95 euro. Their simpler styles started around 45 euro I think. While custom sandals are pricey, the prices on Capri were way higher, I saw the same pair I purchased for 195! (I was surprised because Positano isn't exactly a bargain...). Added bonus at Safari - the guy who makes the sandals is quite handsome (and yes, we did have a photo op with him and my new sandals of course). Just shop around until you find a pair you like. Don't worry about the language barrier, at Safari and most sandal shops, they have all of the designs displayed on the walls with prices marked. Good luck and have fun!
Quick follow up, I just googled Canfora, this is the pair I bought last spring for 95 euro at Safari, 190 at Canfora. He also has many heel heights and shapes to choose. http://www.canfora.com/en/beach-sandals/70-sandals-lona.html Positano is well worth even a day trip if you have time, I think there is a boat from Capri?
Thank you so much for that delightful reply!! I am heading to Sorrento as well! And I will look for the handsome sandal guy!! This is why I love this forum, you get really good info from fellow travelers.
